Senator Edward Kennedy loses cancer battle at 77

By Michael Addison -  email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy has died. The 77-year-old passed away at his home in Hyannis Port overnight.

He had been battling a brain tumor for the past year and was working to find a replacement for the senate seat he has occupied for almost 50 years.

Kennedy was elected to the senate in 1962, when his brother John F. Kennedy was president, and served longer than all but two senators in history.

Funeral arrangements are expected within a day or two.

That's why Lake Charles resident Raymond LeDay wants to know why billion-dollar company Entergy doesn't cut its grass. The Southeast corner of Highway 171 and Fitzenreiter Road is a large tract of land. Much, if not most of it, is owned by Entergy.
