Seven-hour standoff ends peacefully in Sulphur

By Michael Addison -  email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Sulphur Police say a tense standoff with a man armed with a shotgun is over, after he surrendered more than 6 hours later.

Authorities tell 7News that around 1:30 Monday morning, Robert McNabb, who had barricaded himself inside a home on Mimosa Drive, gave himself up.

Police say around 6 p.m. Sunday night, they responded to a call at the home about a domestic dispute between the two.

When McNabb was asked by officers to talk to them, they say McNabb, injured from the fight, ignored orders given to him by officers and walked into his residence and shut the door.

According to authorities, McNabb then locked himself inside the house. Almost 7 hours later, he surrendered without anyone getting hurt.
