LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - More than two weeks after being brutally attacked outside a Lake Charles bar. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputy Logan Armistead remains in a coma in a Lafayette hospital. Family members say he's still unresponsive from severe head trauma received in his attack.
Armistead was off duty when Lake Charles Police say he was attacked by Anthony Chaumont and Jake Tullos in the parking lot of Nate's Place. Tullos is free on bond, while Chaumont remains behind bars. Both men are charged with attempted manslaughter.
Meanwhile Logan's family thanks the community for all of their continued support and is planning a benefit scheduled for September 26th.
