Suspect arrested in Deputy assault case

Reported by KPLC Staff:

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - 22-year-old Anthony Chaumont of Sulphur has been arrested in connection with the brutal beating of Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Deputy, Logan Armistead.

Police believe there are two other men involved that have yet to be apprehended.

Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon is confident they will be caught.

Dixon says, "We feel there were two other individuals with mister Chaumont on the early morning hours at Nate's Place that were participants in this incident. The investigation is continuing. We feel we are on the verge of identifying them, possibly have warrants. If you are one of those two individuals, you need to come see us, otherwise we are going to find you."

Chaumont is being held on a $50,000 bond.
