Get to know our winning couple: Mary Beth Leger & Cody Cole

We asked our wedding candidates to tell us about themselves and this is what Mary Beth and Cody said:

How long have y'all known each other? 5 years

How did you meet? We sat by each other in a Computer Studies Class at McNeese State University.  We always ended up working in the same group for projects.

How did he/she propose? We had tickets to go to WWE Wrestle Mania 24 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL.  Cody secretly contacted an affiliate with the event to see if it was possible for him to propose in the wrestling ring in the middle of the arena.  Due to time constraints and similar requests from other attendees, he was denied, but not discouraged.

With the help of his family, they turned his home into a "Winter Wonderland" for a Christmas Eve Party.  One of my gifts was an index card with a clue on it.  I had to go on a scavenger hunt all over inside and outside the house.  The last clue was in the living room.  It was Cody with a cake!  The cake was shaped like the arena and where the wrestling ring would have been was a message.  Before I could read it, he took my hands and told me how much I meant to him and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.  He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!  It was only after we took pictures with our families that I noticed the message said "Will you marry me?"  It was beautiful!  I was so glad that our families were there to share that moment with us.

How do you know this is the "one"? I only knew him from school and work, but I didn't know him that well.  On our first outing together, he introduced me to his parents.  Meeting them showed me that he was very close to them and valued their opinion.  My family means the world to me and I saw first hand that his meant the same to him.

Why should our viewers pick you? We are both responsible, hard working individuals who genuinely love each other but are in need of a "helping hand".  We rarely ask for assistance from anyone.  We were both brought up with the belief "if you can't afford it, you don't need it."  We work and earn everything we have.

I was ultimately raised by my grandparents because they were able to provide a loving and stable environment for my sister and me.  I moved to Lake Charles after graduation.  I worked 3 jobs to pay for college and other living expenses.  I refused to take out a student loan.  It was challenging, but I made it, and graduated in May 2007 from MSU.  Cody was also raised in a loving and stable environment.  He is a determined individual with big dreams.  He strives for perfection in everything he does.  He sees shorcomings in life as an opportunity for improvement.  He never settles for anything less than the best.

Because of increasing rent at both our apartments, we decided to buy a house last July.  We started a "wedding fund" with the money we save from paying rent each month.  We decided that we were going to try to take as much responsibility for our wedding costs as we possibly could.  We don't want our families or ourselves to go into debt for our decision to legally spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife.

We have been engaged since December 24, 2007.  We realize that a wedding only lasts a day, wheras a marriage lasts a lifetime.  We understand that marriage is a lifelong commitment that should not be entered into lightly.  We have put great thought into our decision.  We need help making our dream become our reality.

Viewers should be inclined to choose us because I used my lucky pen to fill this out!
