Pedestrian hit and killed by train

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Sulphur Police report that around 3 a.m. this morning, officers were called to the intersection of Post Oak Road and Union Pacific Railroad track, Where a pedestrian was hit by a train.

Police say the conductor notified 911 that a pedestrian had stepped in front of the train.

The victim was found on the railroad track and was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's office in Lake Charles.

The victim's name is being withheld until they can get a positive identification and notify next of kin.

Sulphur Police say this is the fifth fatality in Sulphur this year.
