ELTON, LA (KPLC) - It was inside a storage shed on Bel Oil Road where police discovered the body of a nearly full-term baby.

Allen Parish Chief Deputy Grant Willis says, "The initial call came in through 911 to the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office.  Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office dispatched Acadian Ambulance and they proceeded to the residence, which ended up being located in Allen parish.  Our deputies went out there and the body of an infant child was recovered."

Investigators believe the baby found in the shed belonged to 37-year-old Zydeco performer Mary Rosie Ledet.  Ledet is said to have had a miscarriage on July 1st in her hometown of Iota.  She then allegedly wrapped the baby in a blanket and rode with one of her band mates to his home in Allen parish. There she is believed to have put the infant in the storage shed on his property before going on tour for four days.  Afterwards, Ledet allegedly told a friend who in turn contacted authorities.

Willis says they've been receiving several phone calls accusing them of not acting upon this case because Rosie Ledet is a high-profile musician.  He disputes the accusations. "We're not looking at who she is or what she is, we're looking at the crime.  If she's responsible, or whoever the violator is, we'll file the proper charge."

The filing of the proper charge could take weeks, as Allen authorities await autopsy results telling them whether the infant found in the storage shed was dead or alive when born.
