Fire still smolders since Father's Day

Reported by KPLC Staff:

On Father's Day a sawmill in DeQuincy caught on fire.

The Ward 6 Fire Department responded to the fire but it's still smoldering, and now it's become a public nuisance and the Department of Environmental Quality has gotten involved.

If anyone in the DeQuincy area has a pond or canal available and are willing to let the fire department use their water you are asked to call 337-786-2775.  You can let them know your water is available, because at this time they only have two ponds to use as water sources.
