LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Two men are at the hospital and a third under arrest after a shooting in Moss Bluff. No word yet on what may have led to the violence.

The noon time quiet was shattered with the sound of gunshots in a residential neighborhood of Moss Bluff. It happened at at 470 West Telephone Road.

Neighbor Courtney Hubert lives nearby. "I was walking outside with my mom and I saw an ambulance pass by and when we looked down here that's when we saw the police and stuff. I started crying and screaming. I thought somebody was dead."

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said, "When deputies arrived on the scene there was a man in the driveway laying down with a gun in his hand pointed toward the home. Deputies got him into custody. He is our suspect. His name is Barry Thomas."

Thomas, was arrested and brought in for questioning. The investigation is in the preliminary stage and they've not yet determined what charges he may face. Mancuso says it's too soon to say what may have led to shots being fired but two men went to the hospital. "I do understand from our preliminary reports that both are in stable condition at local hospitals."

There were bullet holes in the house and the pistol was left in the driveway for crime scene investigators to gather as evidence.

Says Mancuso, "There are other people we are trying to find who were witnesses inside the house but at this time we've not located all of them."

It's an incident neighbors won't soon forget. Says Courtney,"It like scared the mess out of me because I don't see this kind of stuff every day and people I care about were in that house and it like kind of freaked me out a little bit."

At last word the two men shot were still being treated at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Their names have not been released.
