CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital will be holding a free community seminar on the detection and prevention of heart disease on Thursday, May 28. The seminar will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Garber Auditorium at 430 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive.
Cardiologist, Mike Turner, M.D. will share the latest information on risk factors, warning signs and risk predictors such as calcium scoring - a new non-invasive technology that can predict your 10-year risk for a heart attack in just minutes.
"Early detection is the key to prevention. The earlier we can detect and treat heart disease, the better the outcome," says Dr. Turner. "For cases where heart disease is suspected, cardiac CT angiography offers amazing images of the heart and blood vessels in a non-surgical setting."
Seating for the seminar is limited. To register, call 491-7577.
Dr. Turner is the Medical Director of the CHRISTUS St. Patrick Regional Heart Center and Director of Outpatient Cardiac CT. He is a Fellow of The American College of Cardiology and immediate past ACC Governor for Louisiana. He is board-certified in cardiology and cardiac CT.
