State officials report 23 suspected cases of swine flu, one in Beauregard Parish

Louisiana health officials say one of the possible 23 cases of the swine flu under investigation is from Beauregard Parish. No other information on SWLA's first suspected case at this time, but health officials are in close contact with Beauregard school officials.

Meanwhile, Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered another school closed in Lafayette as the number of suspected swine flu cases in Lafayette to 17. Jindal said in a news conference Saturday that Ascension Episcopal School became the fifth school in Lafayette Parish shut down because of a cluster of cases. Jindal said the five schools' students interact often in extracurricular activities. No cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Louisiana.

Jindal said all 23 suspected victims of swine flu are being treated at home, taking antiviral medication.
