LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Lake Charles Police say an attempted rapist targeted a 13 year old girl playing in a backyard. Police say it happened on Esplanade Street back on April 5, the Sunday before Easter. However, they say the attacker failed, thanks to the quick thinking of the intended victim's 9 year old sister.

"We believe he had all intentions to rape her, he was able to declothe her to some degree. But her 9 year old sister was able to intervene. She struck the suspect with a stick and that gave the 13 year old the opportunity to kick him in his groin. She got out from under him and he fled westbound on Esplanade street on foot," said Sgt. Mark Kraus.

LCPD now needs your help finding the suspect. He's described as a white man in his late teens or early twenties with blonde hair. If you know anything, call Crimestoppers at 439-2222.
