Joe McPherson ends bid to become Public Service Commissioner

Reported by KPLC Staff:

State Senator Joe McPherson confirms he is ending his bid to become Public Service Commissioner for District Four. McPherson was only 648 votes short from leading the race on April 4th.

"After closely examining the primary results, I was convinced that we could run a competitive campaign," McPherson said. But taking into account family and business considerations and preparations for a legislative session that begins in two weeks, McPherson has decided against participating in a runoff.

"My decision to end this campaign does not end my long-time commitment to Louisiana consumers and I will continue to speak out on their behalf," McPherson said.

McPherson represents the 29th State Senate district.

There is no word yet on when Clyde C. Holloway will be sworn in as the new commissioner for District 4.
