St. Patrick Hospital to hold interactive open house with daVinci® robotic technology

St. Patrick Hospital will hold an open house for the public to "meet" the daVinci® surgical robot on Thursday, April 9 from 8:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.  People will have the chance to test the robot's capabilities for minimally invasive hysterectomies and prostatectomies.

There will also be three surgeons trained in the robotic surgical technology on site throughout the day for question and answer sessions:

  • 11 am - Noon: Johnny Biddle, M.D. - Gynecology
  • Noon - 1:00 p.m.: Lee Monlezun Jr., M.D. - Gynecology
  • 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.: Farjaad Siddiq, M.D. - Urology

With this robotic technology, surgeons can perform complex operations through small incisions no larger than a dime, using instruments that have seven degrees of movement, mimicking the dexterity of the human wrist.

Robotic surgery has many benefits such as significantly reducing pain, a faster recovery time, fewer complications, a shorter hospital stay and less blood loss.

The open house will be held on the first floor of the hospital next to the CHRISTUS Healthy Living Coffee Café.  Parking will be available in the garage.
