LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The race is heating up in District F for City Councilman between Anthony Lee Bartie and incumbent Dana Carl Jackson.
Anthony Bartie works as a station manager at a Lake Charles radio station where he's been employed for 16 years. He says he's concerned about certain issues in his district that have not been fully addressed.
Anthony Lee Bartie says, "Flooding and drainage is still a problem in certain areas. There are still certain elements of crime that continue in our streets, so I want to make our neighborhoods safer. There is also an issue with water quality in certain areas as well as economic growth."
Also running for District F's City Council seat is incumbent Dana Carl Jackson. Jackson has been working as an insurance agent since 1972 and also works as a construction worker. He says if re-elected he plans to continue doing what he's been doing over the last four years.
Dana Carl Jackson says, "I'm solving the problems, I'm getting the water straightened out, we're fighting crime a lot better. We've made an agreement with Joey Alcede to hire new marshals and they're going to be on neighborhood patrols now and I think that's going to help greatly in the Brentwood area."
