NEW ORLEANS (AP) - After a year marked by heavy spring and fall rains and a summer drought, the Small Business Administration says it will be offering businesses and non-profits in 10 rural parishes in Louisiana disaster loans.
The loans were triggered by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack's crop disaster declaration earlier this month. The loans will be available in Concordia, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Madison, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Washington and West Feliciana.
Farmers can apply for help through separate loan programs administered by the U.S. Agriculture Department.
