LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The head of the Louisiana SPCA says she has not seen a lawsuit asking compensation for the loss of 57 pit bulls euthanized after their owners were arrested on dogfighting charges.
Ana Zorrilla also says she came to the Louisiana SPCA years after Louisiana State Police arrested the men and confiscated their dogs in 2005.
Father and son Floyd and Guy Boudreaux of Youngsville were acquitted on all charges a year ago. They want compensation for mental and emotional distress and for loss of property and income. They say they bred pit bulls as pets and show dogs, not for fighting, and that family pets were among those killed.
