MORGANZA, La. (AP) - Sheriff's deputies say a Pointe Coupee Central High School student was arrested after multiple witnesses said they saw him with a gun on school grounds.
Although no gun was found as of Monday evening, Capt. Steve Juge, with the Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old boy was arrested on a count of illegal carrying of a weapon on a school campus.
The student's name was not released because of his age.
Sheriff Beauregard "Bud" Torres said the boy was booked into the St. James Youth Detention Center.
Torres said he believes the gun is either still on the school grounds or was removed from campus before deputies got there Monday afternoon.
