    The annual rabies clinic hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Policy Jury and Calcasieu Parish Animal Services was held at Burton Coliseum Saturday morning. The event was originally scheduled for Apr. 14 but was canceled due to rain. Hundreds of pet owners lined up in the parking lot to get their cats and dogs vaccinated at the low-cost event.     A Jennings man has been arrested after barricading himself and a hostage in a residence, according to Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey with Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office. At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, JDPSO responded to a hostage and barricaded subject with a firearm on South Cutting Avenue in Jennings.     A man accidentally shot himself in the parking lot of South Beauregard High School today, officials with the Beauregard Sheriff's Office said. All students and faculty are safe, said Chief Detective Mark Herford. Herford said left his gun in his vehicle during an awards ceremony at the school. When he returned to the vehicle following the ceremony, he shot himself while attempting to secure the gun. His condition is currently unknown.

    A school bus was involved in an accident in Westlake.  Westlake Police Chief Christopher Wilrye says the accident happened around 7:22 a.m. this morning.  The bus was holding 12 kids. No injuries have been reported from the bus nor the other vehicle involved says Wilrye. Wilrye says the roadway has been cleared.     State Corrections officials report a prisoner from Calcasieu Parish attempted to escape from Angola.     A viewer sent us photos of great horned owls in their backyard. It's not every day that residents in Lake Charles can catch these nocturnal birds in such great lighting. According to allaboutbirds.org, great horned owls usually like to hang out late a night.  Allaboutbirds.org says these yellow-eyed birds are the most common owls in America; particularly in deserts, wetlands, forests, grasslands, and, get this, backyards!

The home is being built in the Graywood community and one lucky family in Southwest Louisiana is going to win the home, thanks to a giveaway sponsored by St. Jude Children's Hospital and KPLC. Salvador Custom Homes is building the home and donating materials, time and labor to make the project possible. Business owner Earl Wright is donating the labor and time for plumbing.

    Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s officials are looking into a hit and run accident.  It happened in the early afternoon of Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Sam Houston Jones Parkway in Moss Bluff.
