    A man accidentally shot himself in the parking lot of South Beauregard High School today, officials with the Beauregard Sheriff's Office said. All students and faculty are safe, said Chief Detective Mark Herford. Herford said left his gun in his vehicle during an awards ceremony at the school. When he returned to the vehicle following the ceremony, he shot himself while attempting to secure the gun. His condition is currently unknown.

As of Friday, the American Airlines flight now departs from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport at 4:35 p.m. and arrives in Lake Charles at 5:49 p.m. It also departs from Lake Charles at 6:15 p.m. and arrives in Dallas at 7:39 p.m. The flight will shift from early evening to late afternoon starting in June.     A suspect was shot by police following a manhunt and police chase that began in Sulphur and ended in Carlyss, Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats has confirmed. Coats said no officers were injured. The suspect, who was shot in the neck, was transported to a local hospital. Coats said the officer who shot him began administering life-saving efforts.

    A former state trooper from Calcasieu's Troop D is one of four arrested as part of a probe into Louisiana State Police's participation in the Local Agency Compensated Enforcement Program. Jimmy Rogers, who resigned from Troop D, was arrested on 74 counts of injuring public records and one count of malfeasance in office. State police announced the arrest, as well as an arrest of another former trooper and two current troopers.

    The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a Sulphur man responsible for a stabbing. William K. Foy, 23, Sulphur showed up to a family member's home intoxicated, according to CPSO spokeswoman, Kim Myers. The family member stated Foy began to argue with her and attempted to take her phone when he thought she was calling the police. When she refused to give Foy her phone, he slapped and punched her. After the woman fell to the ground Foy began kicking her, Myers said. ...

    The annual rabies clinic hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Policy Jury and Calcasieu Parish Animal Services was held at Burton Coliseum Saturday morning. The event was originally scheduled for Apr. 14 but was canceled due to rain. Hundreds of pet owners lined up in the parking lot to get their cats and dogs vaccinated at the low-cost event.
