    It's not unusual to hear complaints about the U.S. Postal Service in our area. The latest comes from a neighborhood off Nelson Road where residents say they no longer get daily delivery. "Whether snow, sleet or rain or whatever it   should be delivered," said Terry Bellard, who lives at Smith Village mobile home community. Residents say their mail is no longer delivered regularly.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in their investigation of the unsolved homicide of Mary Darlene Howard, 15, whose body was found in a wooded area on West Boundary Road in the Sandy Hill area in Leesville on April 27, 1980, said VPSO Detective Rhonda Jordan.

    Authorities say a convicted sex offender was arrested after he began masturbating in front of a female employee at a local business.  Goldyn Briggs, 27, was arrested on charges of obscenity after he allegedly exposed himself to a female employee as she was assisting him.  Briggs had entered the business on Dec. 5 and applied for employment.

Sales were up 49 percent with increases in food, apparel, merchandise, furniture, building materials, miscellaneous services, manufacturing, utilities, auto, gaming and restaurants.     IBERIABANK Corporation, IBERIABANK, and IBERIABANK Mortgage Company, based out of Lafayette, Louisiana, have agreed to pay a large settlement of $11.6 million for allegedly violating the False Claims Act. According to The U.S. Justice Department, IBERIABANK falsely certified it was complying with the requirements for mortgage insurance on Federal Housing Administration loans.

    A fire destroyed a truck pulling a trailer near I-10, according to The Lake Charles Fire Department.  The truck caught fire around 3:30 p.m. today, said Chief Chris Carroll.     Rape charges have been dismissed against three men who were accused of taking part in a sexual assault of a woman in the shower. DA spokeswoman Patsy Dugas confirmed that first-degree rapes charges against Ricardo Valadez, Jose Martinez, and Jimmy Alvarez were dismissed today.     Motorists in Lake Charles had a run-in with some local wildlife Thursday afternoon.  The images were sent to us by a KPLC viewer. The alligator was spotted crossing the road near the I-10 westbound Ryan Street exit. Wildlife agents were called and the gator was removed from the roadway but not before it crawled under a bystanders car. Janet Allured, Ph.D., is an author and professor at McNeese State University. She's a longtime advocate for gender equality who herself finds recent events shocking. "It's hard for me to imagine the extent of this going on out there without those men being called to account before this," she said.

"I had that in the back of my mind ever since I was a kid," said Hutchinson. "My parents would say, 'You'll find him one day.' I looked all the time when I was a little kid."

    To attempt to quell commuter headaches in Westlake, D.O.T.D. and Sasol teamed up to implement a traffic signal system. This system is the first of its kind in Louisiana, it's called an "adaptive traffic signal system." "The system adjusts the traffic signal timings based on actual traffic demand and helps reduce the amount of congestion," said Dr. Shawn Wilson, DOTD secretary.
