Calcasieu schools receive Martin Luther King Jr. flags

Posted: Updated:

LAKE CHARLES (KPLC) - Ross Flags and Design, licensee of the first ever Martin Luther Kings, Jr. flag, with generous support from Jeff Davis Bank, is donating flags to each school in the Calcasieu Parish School System to commemorate the slain civil rights leader.

The superintendent and schools will each receive a three foot by five foot flag to display in the school and each School Board member will receive a 28 inch by 40 inch banner.

The flag represents a visual symbol that exemplifies pride and shows respect. This flag and its symbolism is Ross Flags and Design's way of extending the legacy, beliefs and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The flag's slogan, "Yesterday's Dream, Tomorrow's Reality", offers a glimpse into how far Dr. King's dream has developed.
