
Offiicals say this can all change based on if the Gustav model shifts.
Sunday at 6am residents with special needs will begin evacuation. City buses will pick these individuals up and get them to safety.
Gremillion says Calcasieu will be under a mandatory evacuation beginning Sunday at Noon. At this point Contraflow will be put into place for Calcasieu. This means drivers will have to take one of the following routes to get out of the parish:
Highway 109 North
Highway 27 North
Highway 171 North (Recommended taking Highway 14 to get to 171)
Highway 165 North
Interstate ten not considered a contraflow route.
Cameron Parish mandatory evacuation at 6am Sunday.
Allen Parish mandatory evacuation on Sunday.
Beauregard Parish is also issuing a recommended evacuation at 6am Sunday. Residents with special needs will begin evacuating Saturday at noon.
Jeff Davis Parish expected to issue some sort of evacuation on Sunday.
In the event you will need to return to the parish to fulfill a role with your company, officials urge you to review the procedures posted on the Louisiana State Police website.
Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach says extra buses are on order and will arrive on Sunday. He says the city buses will also be picking up any resident who may need a ride to evacuate to safety. Mayor Roach says the city will continue taking "non-emergency" calls at 491-1201.
Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso says the wheels are already in motion to evacuate the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Mancuso also warned residents that if they break the law and arrested they will be transported to another jail in another parish. Mancuso also wants residents to know they have extra manpower and resources available to protect the city and parish in the event of looters.
Also Calcasieu OEP Director Dick Gremillion says we're already experiencing cell phone service disruptions. He asks residents to be conservative when using their cell phones during this time.
