Reported by the Associated Press
Company officials say the falling price of natural gas means that -- after rising steadily for six months -- Entergy's monthly electric bills should drop about one-fifth in March.
The fuel adjustment charge, the most volatile part of utility bills, should fall from eight cents per kilowatt hour in February to 6.2 cents in bills for March. That's according to Entergy Corporation vice president T- Michael Twomey, who says that will cut most customers' electric bills by about 20%.
The exact amounts consumers can expect to see on their March bills are not available because state officials have not finished their monthly fuel audit, but a typical house uses about 1,500 kilowatts of electricity a month. That would have cost about $190 in February, and is expected to run $150 this month.
Entergy expects to start mailing its March bills by the end of the week.
