Reported by The Associated Press
Louisiana State Police, working with local and national humane societies and other law enforcement agencies, have shut down a dog fighting operation near Broussard.
Investigators found 68 pitbulls and 40 chickens and roosters in pens behind the home on Highway 89. Detectives arrested Floyd Boudreaux and his son Guy Boudreaux. They believe the men were raising, training, fighting and selling the dogs. The arrests conclude a two-and-a-half month long investigation.
If convicted of felony charges, the men face 10 years in prison and fines up to $25,000.
