NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Pelicans have received the sixth overall pick in Tuesday night's NBA draft lottery, dropping a spot after finishing with the fifth-worst record in the league this past season. New Orleans was pushed back a spot after the Washington Wizards jumped to third overall after being slotted eighth after the regular season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis coach Josh Pastner has hired Robert Kirby as an assistant coach for the Tigers. Pastner announced the hiring Tuesday, a move that must be approved by the both the university and the Tennessee State Board of Regents that oversees Memphis.

HOUSTON (AP) - Mike Moustakas tied it with an RBI single before George Kottaras walked with the bases-loaded to drive in the go-ahead run in a four-run eighth inning, and the Kansas City Royals rallied for a 7-3 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. The Royals trailed 3-0 and couldn't get much going offensively until the seventh when they cut the lead to one on RBI singles by Alcides Escobar and David Lough.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Southern California and San Jose State shared the lead at 4-under 284 after the first round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships on Tuesday. USC, which won titles in 2003 and '08 and was runner-up to Alabama last year, came in as the top-ranked team in the country, while San Jose State was 48th.
