AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A judge has denied a motion to remove from office a Central Texas district attorney who oversees the state's Public Integrity Unit. State District Judge David Peeples ruled in Austin today that Rosemary Lehmberg may remain as Travis County's top felony prosecutor. Lehmberg was arrested on the night of April 12th after deputies found her driving erratically. She pleaded guilty days later, was sentenced to 45 days in jail and entered rehabilitation upon her release.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A North Texas juvenile court judge has sentenced a 16-year-old boy to probation for a drunken-driving crash that killed four people in southern Tarrant County last summer. State District Judge Jean Boyd sentenced the teen Tuesday in Fort Worth. Prosecutors had sought the maximum 20 years behind bars for the Keller teen.
HOUSTON (AP) - Attorneys for a Mexican national facing execution next month in Texas are asking the state parole board to recommend halting his punishment because the inmate convicted of killing a Houston police officer didn't receive help from the Mexican government under international treaties. Forty-six-year-old Edgar Tamayo is set for lethal injection on January 22nd.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron says he doesn't believe coach Nick Saban will leave for Texas. McCarron made his comments today in advance of tomorrow's College Football Awards Show. Saban is reportedly a target by Texas officials to be its next coach if current coach Mack Brown were to step down.
