LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Sulphur Police are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck that happened after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a motorcycle was hit by a truck causing serious injuries to the cyclist.
Authorities say an automobile driven by 28-year-old Robert Mitchell Reed, Jr. of Kinder was traveling south on Huntington Street and ran a red light hitting the motorcycle driven by 72-year-old Herbert Bell of Sulphur. Bell was traveling east on Logan at its intersection with Huntington.
Bell was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with serious but non life threatening injuries. Reed was also transported to a local hospital, but was later released.
Reed was arrested and booked into the Sulphur City Jail on charges of running a red light, vehicular negligent injury and driving while under the influence, second.
The accident is still under investigation by the Sulphur Police Department.
