LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Sulphur Police and the Calcasieu Parish school board confirm that the lockdown of three schools and two daycares has been lifted after police found a man who escaped their custody.

D.S. Perkins Elementary, LeBlanc Middle, and Jake Drost in Sulphur - as well as two daycares - were on lockdown earlier on Thursday morning while police searched for a man who escaped their custody during questioning.

Sulphur Police confirm that they were interviewing someone who escaped custody Thursday morning. The man, 29-year-old John Trevor Ellis, was arrested on Wednesday for disturbing the peace, public intoxication, and shoplifting. There is no word on further charges that may be filed against Ellis.
