According to Joe Toeler with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, a massive lighting strike may be what caused an oil well to catch on fire just outside of DeQuincy.
Toeler tells us the fire was reported around 3:30pm on HWY 389 near mile post 10. HAZMAT is on the scene assessing chemicals that may be the result of the burn off. The fire is in a remote area and there have not been any evacuations at this time.
