Man in motorized wheelchair arrested for burglary and theft

Reported by KPLC Staff:

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office say they've arrested a man in a motorized wheelchair for burglary and theft.

Deputies say several witnesses told them they saw 68-year-old Kenneth P. Richard of Moss Bluff, making several trips into a house in Moss Bluff, that's been unoccupied since 2005, and taking items out.

Authorities say a search of Richard's home revealed several items that were stolen from the house. They found two vacuum cleaners, a step ladder, a CD Changer, and a turntable.

Richard was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with burglary, theft, and criminal trespassing.

His bond was set at $21,000.
