First Alert Forecast: Rain still likely through Saturday, then sunshine possible Sunday

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Through the rest of the day, it will be mostly cloudy. There may be some breaks in the clouds later this afternoon. It should not be abundant sunshine, but I think there will be the sun peeking through a few clouds. Some good news is I don’t expect to see any more rain today. All the rain from this morning is gone. Temperature wise, it will warm up to the mid 60s, then cool back down after sunset.

This evening, there should be a few breaks in the clouds. This may make for a beautiful sunset. I do not expect any rain this evening if you have any outdoor plans. I do expect the clouds to be on the return, though. Temperatures will be in the 60s around sunset, then will cool to the upper 50s. So, it would not hurt to have a jacket with you.

Overnight, the clouds will be on the return. Those clouds will be coming in from the south, thanks to a stalled front. That front will move over us on Thursday but will bring some rain by the morning hours. Rain chances will begin to increase after midnight. Temperatures should fall to the lower 50s. A few places north of I-10 will see the upper 40s.

Through the day on Thursday, that stalled front over the Gulf of Mexico will move back over us. This will bring rain throughout the day. I do not expect a washout, instead the rain will be scattered. Also, I think the best time for the rain will be in the morning. There will still be a few showers in the afternoon, but not as much. I have the rain chances up to 60%. Along with an umbrella, you may also need a jacket since temperatures should only warm up to the lower 60s.

Friday will have lower rain chances, but rain is still possible. I have the rain chances up to 30%. That stalled front will be a little farther north taking most of the rain with it. Winds will be out of the south, which could help spark a couple stray showers. The winds will also help temperatures will warm up to the mid 70s.

That next cold front will come this next weekend. Most of the rain will be out ahead of the front, so Saturday will have the best chance of rain. I am keeping the rain chance up to 70%. This will not be a great day to do anything outdoors.

There is some indication about this front clearing all the rain and clouds. So, by Sunday, the weather will be very nice! Sunday will likely be a very beautiful and sunny day. I am skeptical of how much sunshine we will see. At the very least, I do not expect any rain all day! Temperatures will be near 70 degrees for the afternoon high.

As you might expect, that cold front that passed through Saturday will stall over the Gulf of Mexico and will head back in our direction. That cold front will become a warm front and pass over us on Monday. This will bring more rain, of course. I have the rain chances up to 60%.

This will also carry over into Tuesday with more rain. The warm front will be weakening, so there may not be as much rain. Before too long next week, I do expect another cold front to push that front out of our way. We will have to wait a little bit to know the timing.
