NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - LSU sits atop the SEC with a trip from the conference co-leaders, Tennessee, looming Saturday morning. The Associated Press poll released Monday morning has the Tigers all the way up to 13th, ramping up expectations and excitement for the young team.

“You just take it one game at a time," sophomore guard Tremont Waters told reporters Monday. "I wake up, I take it one day at a time and in the basketball world, you’ve got to take it one game at a time because if you don’t, if you don’t win, you’re not going to get another game come March. So we just have to buckle down, stay humble, know where we’re trying to go and what we’re trying to achieve.”

Before #5 Tennessee comes to town Saturday, LSU must first get past Florida (14-11, 6-6) Wednesday as they tip off a three-game home stand in Baton Rouge “We’re just ready for the Florida game," freshman guard Javonte Smart said. "They’re a good defensive team. All of our fans come out and bring us good energy for the game Wednesday and we’re just ready to play.”

Will Wade’s success in just his second season has fans thinking back to the school’s last Final Four run in 2006. Wade is just happy to have restored the passion he always knew was possible “That’s good, give 'em something to do between football and baseball a little bit. But it’s good and I’ve said it from the start. LSU is no different from anywhere, if you win, they like you. The reason our football program and baseball programs have been so good is because we’ve been winning for a long time. That’s the goal of our basketball program is to put us in a place where we can sustainably win and so we’re working toward that every day.”
