LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Scattered showers with an occasional thunderstorm likely through the night tonight. Temperatures will continue to warm with time overnight, some areas may reach the low 70s! The warming temps will cause fog to remain an issue overnight. A cold front will move through early Wednesday and that will push the fog and rain out. We may even see the clouds clear enough to allow some sunshine in during the day, but don’t get used to it because rain returns Thursday...
This evening, the temperatures will still be warm in a few areas, and cool in a few others. A few places may be close to 70 degrees, while areas around Beauregard and Vernon parishes will be closer to the lower 50s.
The next front coming from the west will keep rain chances in place on Wednesday. This front will push the stalled front out of our way after it has lingered in place for the last couple days. Since it is a Pacific cold front, I do not expect a big drop in temperatures. However, I do have a 40% chance of rain Wednesday.
Unfortunately, that front will stall over us as well, and keep the rain chances in place for Wednesday and Thursday. The rain chances will remain at 60% with the front sitting right on top of us. It will take another cold front to push this one out of the way.
Friday will have lower rain chances, but rain is still possible. I have the rain chances up to 30%. That stalled front will be a little farther north taking most of the rain with it. Winds will be out of the south, and temperatures will warm up to the mid 70s.
That next cold front will come this next weekend. Most of the rain will be out ahead of the front, so Saturday will have the best chance of rain. I am keeping the rain chance up to 70%. This will not be a great day to do anything outdoors.
There is some indication about this front clearing all the rain and clouds, so by Sunday, the weather will be very nice! I am skeptical of this idea, because that same front could also stall over like the other cold fronts have done. At the very least, temperatures will be a little cooler on Sunday after the front passes. Temperatures will reach the mid 60s, which is about average for this time of the year.
The weather will continue to stay like this with rain possible just about any time, any day until this weather pattern changes. There is no indication of this happening anytime soon. But we will continue to monitor the weather and let you know of any changes.
