WEST PALM BEACH, FL - The Astros will hold the first official Spring Training workout for pitchers and catchers Thursday at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches facility in West Palm Beach, FL. Several pitchers, catchers and position players have been working out at the facility for several days.
The report date for the entire squad is Sunday, Feb. 17 with the first full workout scheduled for Monday, Feb. 18. This will be the Astros’ third season at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches complex in West Palm Beach. Astros Spring Training workouts are open to the public with no charge.
Houston will begin Grapefruit League play on Saturday, Feb. 23 vs. the Washington Nationals, whom they share a ballpark with. Washington will be the home team.
The Astros home opener will be on Sunday, Feb. 24 vs. the Atlanta Braves. The Astros will play with a split squad on this date as they also will visit the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie, FL. The Astros will play 31 Spring Training games in Florida overall, including 15 at home. Additionally, the Astros will play two exhibition games at Minute Maid Park vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates, March 25-26.
