Unmanned truck sent plowing into Lake Area Adventures store front

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Tim Robles is the general manager at Lake Area Adventures. Robles said Sunday evening he received a bizarre phone call from a friend.

“We got a phone call yesterday afternoon from one of my friends who just happened to be driving by our driving range here; and gave me a call and asked me, ‘Is there supposed to be a truck sticking out of your front door?'” Robles said.

Robles said he’s grateful nobody was inside at the time.

"It was definitely a Sunday afternoon surprise,” Robles said. “No personnel was hurt so it's nothing we can’t replace."

Robles says when he arrived on the scene, the truck was left still running with personal information of the suspect in the car, like registration, identification cards, and tax forms.

"That's the most ridiculous part is that all of his identification was left very easily obtainable," Robles said.

Lake Charles Police are currently in the preliminary stages of the investigation.

Robles says it's all part of running a business.

“Ridiculous; yes,” Robles said. “Humorous; kind of. In another way, there are some issues I hope he gets through. We do pray for this individual. He’s going through something.”

Robles says if the building can be salvaged, repairs could cost upwards of $20,000.
