WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) - A Moss Bluff woman has been arrested for a third-offense DWI after wrecking her vehicle in a parking lot on Houston River Road early Sunday, Feb. 10, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kim Myers said that when deputies were called to the location around 6 a.m., they found the driver, Alyssa A. Chapman, 29, standing outside her SUV. She had backed the SUV over a guard rail, causing the rear tires to come off the ground.
Chapman’s license was suspended for two prior DWI offenses in the past 10 years.
Deputies found Chapman to have unsteady balance and slurred speech, Myers said. Chapman told deputies she had taken two medications prescribed to her the previous day.
After Chapman performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test, she was arrested and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for a breath intoxilyzer test, Myers said. Chapman also agreed to have her blood drawn for a toxicology report.
Chapman was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center on counts of DWI third and and driving under suspension. Judge Robert Wyatt set bond at $12,500.
Cpl. Robert Waggoner was the arresting deputy.
