LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Through the rest of the afternoon, the clouds will clear away. I do not expect any more rain today, now that the cold front has passed. That is pushing the rain away from us, and the clouds will shortly follow. There should be some afternoon sunshine. Even though we had a cold front pass through, the temperatures will remain in the 60s today.
This evening, there should be no rain, and the clouds will be clearing away. There should be a nice sunset with a few clouds around to add some color to the sky. Otherwise, it will be mostly clear. After sunset, temperatures will be cooling rather quickly. They will fall to the 40s by nightfall.
Overnight, it should be nice and clear. It’s been awhile since that was the case. With the clear conditions, the temperatures will be allowed to fall overnight. Lows will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s. You may need a jacket to start off your morning commute for Wednesday.
Wednesday will get off to a chilly start but will then will warm up to the mid 60s. There will also be plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. Wednesday should be the best day of the week. Try to make some time to enjoy the beautiful weather!
By Thursday, the clouds will begin to return again. It should be mostly cloudy with very limited sunshine. This is from the southerly winds coming back. I do not expect any rain though. Temperatures will reach the lower 70s in the afternoon. So, it should still be a nice day.
If you have any plans to go out for Valentine’s Day, you will not need an umbrella. Nor should you need a jacket either. Temperatures will still be warm in the evening. They should remain in the 60s. It will be a cloudy day and night, so I would not plan on going star gazing after sunset.
Friday will have another cold front approach us. I have a 20% chance of rain since we may see a couple pop up showers. It will not be a lot of rain, but it would not hurt to have an umbrella on this day. It will still be warm with temperatures reaching the mid 70s.
The front will take its time to pass through. I am not completely sure about the forecast for the upcoming weekend since the front is being a little tricky. It will likely pass over us, but the question is when and how strong will it be by that time. So as of now, I do not expect any rain on Saturday, but I do have a 20% chance of rain Sunday. We will have a better idea about the forecast as we get closer.
Next week’s weather will depend on what this cold front does. If it takes its time long enough, it will pass through sometime early next week. Otherwise, it may be mostly cloudy, and temperatures will gradually warm back up. This is something we are looking into and will have a better understanding in the next couple days.
At this point, I would be prepared for some rain over the weekend and early next week. Temperatures will be around normal, so they should top out in the 60s. Again, we’ll keep you updated as the days get closer.
