Reward increased to $3,000 for information on Jeff Davis Parish cow shooting

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Louisiana Department of Agriculture of Forestry Livestock Brand Commission and the Jefferson Davis Sheriff’s Office have increased the reward again for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for shooting five Brangus cows in Jefferson Davis Parish, according to Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey, with JDPSO.

The reward has now been increased to $3,000, Ivey says. The Jeff Davis Parish Cattleman’s Association donated an additional $800 to increase the reward.

Ivey says the first incident was reported Jan. 14 where more than five cows were found shot near Faul road and Lone Pine Road north of Welsh. The second report by the same farmer on Jan. 25. where a bull was found shot in the head and above the left flank.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information on this crime to call the Livestock Brand Commission Crime Stoppers at 1-800-558-9741, the Livestock Brand Commission at (225) 925-3962, or the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office at 337-821-2100. All calls are anonymous.
