LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Department of Transportation and Development has announced a lane shift in the I-210 bridge project.
ALL eastbound lanes of the I-210 bridge will be CLOSING on Wed., Jan. 30 and remain closed around the clock.
The closure is for the removal and replacement of the concrete decking on the bridge as well as inspection decks and new guardrails.
Traffic will now be shifted to the westbound lanes of the bridge with one lane traveling westbound and one lane traveling eastbound. However, the eastbound lane on the westbound side of the bridge will be closed on Thurs., Jan. 31 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Only westbound traffic into Sulphur will be allowed at that time.
Alternate routes include I-10, La. 12, and U.S. 190. LA 12 and US 190 can be accessed via LA 109, LA 27, US 171.
Vehicles over 11 feet wide cannot travel through the work zones due to the narrow, temporary, concrete barriers.
