BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Former LSU and current Phillies ace Aaron Nola has been named the 2018 Pro Athlete of the Year by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association.
Nola finished last season with a 17-6 record and a 2.37 ERA.
The Phillies selected Nola with the seventh pick in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.
The Catholic High School star pitched for LSU from 2012-2014, finishing his Tiger career with a 30-6 record, a 2.09 ERA and 345 strikeouts in 332 innings pitched.
Nola was the 2014 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year and a Golden Spikes Award finalist.
