LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man is believed to have killed his wife and stabbed his son before killing himself at a home on Bennie Lane early Friday morning, authorities said.
Bennie Lane is off Ham Reid Road.
The Sheriff’s Office began investigating at 2 a.m. after receiving a call that David M. Pendley, 52, had stabbed his 24-year-old son, according to a news release from Kim Myers, spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, the son was at a neighbor’s house. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
When deputies entered the Pendley’s home, they found David M. Pendley and his wife, Katherine Pendley, 59, dead.
“The investigation is in the preliminary stages; however, at this point in the investigation detectives believe it is a possible murder-suicide,” Myers said.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso said it is believed the son was stabbed when he tried to stop his father from injuring his mother.
Mancuso said detectives had to shoot and kill a dog upon entry.
Det. Casey Lafargue is the lead investigator.
