Grandfather concerned about child abuse after man accused of abusing 5-year-old Jennings girl

Grandfather worried about abuser

JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) - A man previously convicted of cruelty to a juvenile is wanted again; this time, after being accused of abusing a 5-year-old Jennings girl.

The Jennings Police Department currently has a warrant out for 32-year-old Justin Brock King, who was recently accused of abusing the 5-year-old.

“It was determined that the child had been beaten with a belt that had holes in it. You could tell by the impressions on the child’s skin," Police Chief Danny Semmes with the Jennings Police Department, said.

Last week’s case wasn’t the first time King has been accused of abusing a child. In 2016, King pleaded guilty after an 11-month-old suffered two open-skull fractures. King was sentenced to just over three years.

“There has to come a point to where we start protecting our children and our babies," Terry Mann, grandfather of the now 3-year-old child, is speaking out in hopes of preventing abuse from continuing.

“I am going to try my best to get a law passed, or the law amended that a child abuser has to register just like a sex offender," Mann said. “Somehow, some way, my grandson is going to get justice, and so are a lot of other kids in this state.”

Mann was just granted full guardianship of his grandson in December, and said if there’s anything good that came from this, it’s knowing his grandson is safe now.

“The only satisfaction I’ll EVER get out of it, is knowing he will be taken care of," Mann said.

The Jennings Police Department said they take these cases very seriously, and advised if you know where King may be, you should call them immediately at (337) 821-5513.
