SOUTHWEST LOUISANA (KPLC) - The long-awaited 210 bridge construction project is upon us.
The bridge is being reduced to one lane in both directions for a project that is anticipated to last a year.
The project began Monday, Jan. 7. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 8, westbound will be closed from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights.

DOTD says significant delays are to be expected for the duration of the project, particularly at the beginning of the project as drivers adjust and find new routes.
A traffic advisory system on I-10 and I-210 will provide real-time traffic information to drivers via message boards and flashing signs. Motorist Assistance Patrol (MAP) coverage will be increased to three day units and two night units for drivers who are stranded or in need of assistance.
DOTD is advising drivers who wish to bypass the area all together to use La. 12 or US 190 as alternatives. That alternate route can be accessed from La. 109, La. 27, US 171 or US 165.
