LSU’s Aranda named nation’s top LB coach

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU associate head coach and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has been named the 2018 FootballScoop Linebackers Coach of the Year.

Aranda had quite the linebacker squad this season, led by Butkus Award winner Devin White.

White led the way for the Tigers' defense with 123 tackles, followed by Jacob Phillips with 87, Michael Divinity Jr. with 54, and Patrick Queen with 40 stops.

Divinity added 10.5 tackles for loss and tied for the team lead with five sacks.

This is the second time the defensive coordinator has won the award. In 2015, while at Wisconsin, Aranda was named FootballScoop Linebackers Coach of the Year.

Aranda will receive his award and be recognized at an event at the AFCA Convention in January.
