First Alert Forecast: Temperatures set to drop ahead of a few cold fronts

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - It is another cloudy, dreary day in Southwest Louisiana. There should not be much, if any, sunshine today. The good news is that the rain chances will be lower. I have a 20% chance of rain today. It will also be windy. That is helping keep the temperature much cooler. Winds will be out of the north around 5-10 mph and the temperatures today will be in the upper 60s to the low 70s.

This evening will continue to be cloudy. There should not be much rain around as the rain chances remain low. I cannot rule out one or two showers that may pop up, but overall, they will be limited. It will be a cooler evening with the temperatures and it may still be windy as well.

Overnight, it will be much cooler. Temperatures tonight will cool to the mid 50s. That is much closer to where we should be this time of the year. It will still be cloudy, but I think the winds will calm down. It should be a nice night. However, the rain chances will start to pick up early in the morning as we start Friday.

Friday will have a lot of rain around. Especially in the morning. There will be heavy rain at times. I do not expect very much sunshine. With all of the rain around, and the lack of sunshine, it will be quite chilly during the day. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 50s.

Once all the rain clears away by Friday night, the weather will be slightly better for Saturday. It will be much cooler. The high on Saturday will be in the mid 50s! There should not be much sunshine, and that will contribute the temperatures remaining low. The rain chances are slim on Saturday, which is definitely good news. Lows overnight on Saturday will fall down to the mid 40s.

Sunday will have more rain, unfortunately. Right now, I have a 60% chance of rain during the day. I would keep an umbrella with you as you go throughout the day. Highs will be in the 50s due to the rain. If you have any outdoor plans, Saturday is the better day.

Monday will also have more rain. This time because of a strong cold front coming in from the north. There will be much cooler temperatures after the front passes. Afternoon high temperatures may only warm up to the lower 50s! Then the temperature should cool to the 30s overnight! Time to get out your winter coats!

Once that cold front moves through on Monday, it will be much improved weather for the rest of the week. There will be some sunshine on Tuesday with maybe a shower or two early in the morning. Then all of the rain will be gone, and the clouds will slowly clear away. Temperatures will still be cold. Highs will be in the lower 50s.
