KINDER, LA (KPLC) - Two people in Allen Parish area have been arrested on multiple drug charges, according to Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert.

Hebert said that narcotics investigators were in the area following up on an on-going investigation and observed John Caleb LaFleur, 27, of Kinder, and Pamela Denise Smith, 43, of Oberlin, parked on US 165, sitting on a motorcycle.

Investigators began speaking to LaFleur in reference to the investigation, and noticed a strong smell of marijuana and LaFleur tugging at his backpack, according to Hebert.

After getting consent to search the backpack, LaFleur told investigators that there was marijuana and methamphetamine inside, Hebert said. A search of the backpack revealed quantities of marijuana packaged for street sale, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, and three different types of Alprazolam. LaFleur claimed ownership of all of it, according to Hebert.

Smith denied ownership of the ecstasy and Alprazolam that was located inside her purse, according to Hebert.

LaFleur was booked into the Allen Parish Jail on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple charges of manufacture/distribution of drugs.
