SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - Thirteen of the 16 rides at the Cal-Cam Fair have now passed inspection, according to officials with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Only four of the rides passed their initial inspection Wednesday, the day the fair opened.
Ashley Rodrigue, Fire Marshal’s Office public affairs director, said nine additional rides were deemed safe today “following required repairs and extensive additional inspection efforts."
“The ride operator and fair organizer worked diligently and cooperatively with our office through the night and today to assure our standard of safety was met and guaranteed,” Rodrigue said. “As a result, all but three rides have been given approval to operate at the fair.”
“The message to families attending this festival this weekend is that since we have had layers of controls and inspections on this at this point, it’ll be a very safe event for families,” said State Fire Marshal Butch Browning.
