LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Police Department has arrested a man with warrants by several law enforcement agencies.

Ben Weaver, 36, of Lake Charles was apprehended by LCPD over the weekend.

Mark Herford, Chief Deputy with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, says they released video earlier this week asking the public’s help in finding a suspect for burglary and damage to property near Dry Creek.

Herford says they were given a tip through Crimestoppers that Weaver could have been the man in the video.

Through their investigation, Herford says they became aware that Weaver was wanted by several law enforcement agencies across Central and Southwest Louisiana, as well as Southeast Texas, for similar crimes.

“Orange County, Texas has a warrant for him for robbery, theft, burglary, criminal damage, and burglary of a coin operated device,” Herford said. “He’s wanted by Alexandria PD for robbery, theft, burglary, and criminal damage. He’s wanted in Vernon Parish for possession of stolen property.”

Herford says LCPD and the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office helped them identify Weaver. He says those who watched the video on social media and called into Crimestoppers also helped the investigation.

Herford says BPSO has filed a detainer on Weaver.

Weaver is currently being held in the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
