LCPD Police pursuit

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Police have arrested a man following a pursuit on Aster Street and Prien Lake Road, according to Lt. Kevin Kirkum with Lake Charles Police.

LCPD responded to a call from a dispatcher at a cab company concerning a female victim asking for a taxi cab to get away from someone hitting her, says Kirkum. The woman was behind the Dollar General at the corner of Aster Street.

Kirkum says the dispatcher could hear the female yelling at someone to stop hitting her. The suspect, James Lyons, 30, was in a black Volvo.

When officers located the Volvo, Lyons fled the scene in the car, Kirkum says. LCPD tried to instruct the vehicle to stop but Lyons continued.

A pursuit ensued going through several neighborhoods. Lyons left the vehicle and fled on foot. He was located on Aster Street.

Kirkum says two LCPD units were damaged. No injuries have been reported. The victim also fled the scene and has not contacted police.

Lyons is charged with aggravated flight from an officer, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license, and no insurance.
